How to Know When it’s Time to Outsource

I’m always curious to know when my clients realized it was time for them to outsource. I’ve learned there isn’t one straight forward answer…mostly because everyone’s situation is unique. But I wanted to share the most common responses I’ve gotten in case you’re on fence about outsourcing.

How to know when it’s time to outsource:

1. When you’re putting off executing on your great new ideas because you’re too busy

Most of my clients have big goals and great ideas while also having their hands completely full. Between running a salon, leading a team, working behind the chair, educating, and spending time with their families – it’s hard for them to find time to take the next step in their business because they’re too preoccupied with the day to day. Finding someone who understands your ideas and can help you organize and execute them means you can still move the needle forward in your business without sacrificing any more time!

2. When you’ve discovered a gap in your skillset

It’s totally normal not to know how to do everything in your business. Or to not want to take the time to learn how to do something that doesn’t interest you. That’s what experts are for! Finding someone who’s knowledgeable in subjects you aren’t means you can get things done without having to invest in learning something new.

3. When you know your time is better spent in other areas of your business

While some people need help executing on their big idea because they’re tied down with the day to day, others prefer to hand off some of the repetitive tasks so they can focus on their next big idea. Finding someone who can maintain what you’ve already built means you get to spend more time in your own area of expertise.

4. When it makes sense financially

Obviously outsourcing comes with a price tag, which can be a big factor in your decision. And outsourcing shouldn’t break the bank. But it is something that should be considered an investment – like education. Just about all the work I do is designed to generate additional revenue for my clients in one way or another. Finding someone who will give you a return on your investment means it was money well spent.
