Why You Should Be Using Email Marketing in Your Beauty Business

So many salon owners and educators are still sleeping on email marketing and I’m over here trying to figure out why!

What' I’ve come up with is that:

A) You don’t see the benefits of using it

B) You don’t know how to use it effectively

C) You haven’t made it a priority/you don’t have time

D) Some combination of A, B, & C

If any of these sound like your situation, please keep reading because I’m going to (hopefully) convince you to start using email marketing, and offer you all the support you need to do so.

Let’s start with why I’m so passionate about you using email marketing:

  1. Email marketing has the highest ROI (return on investment) of all forms of marketing

    • It’ll be worth your time/energy/money

  2. You can reach your clients/students directly, keeping your business top of mind

    • Your content has a WAY BETTER chance of being seen in your audience’s inbox than if you were to post it on socials

  3. It helps you build authority, excitement, credibility, and brand loyalty

    • Nurture the relationship you have with your audience even when they’re not interacting with you directly

  4. Your email list is an asset you own (unlike your social media pages) and can drive more traffic to your website

    • Your social media accounts can be deleted/taken down at any second but no one can take away your email list or your website

  5. It’s more likely to drive sales than social media marketing

    • Using emails to educate, inspire, and inform your audience will result in additional income

Now that you’re totally sold on the WHY (why you should be using email marketing), let’s talk about the HOW (how to use it effectively).

Really quick - I just want to note here that if you’ve played around with email marketing before and didn’t see the results you were looking for, I can bet it’s for one of these reasons:

  • You only used it to sell

  • You weren’t consistent

  • Your subject lines weren’t interesting

  • You were measuring the wrong metrics for success

  • Your emails didn’t look good on mobile

  • You forgot to add CTAs

As you can see, there’s definitely strategy involved in using email marketing effectively. It’s not that difficult, but it does need to be intentional.

If you really want to dive into the HOW (and I suggest you do if you’re going to DIY it), I recommend you check out the free resource I made called THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO EMAIL MARKETING FOR BEAUTY BUSINESSES (if you just click that link it’ll take you to download it).

In the guide I explore the ins and outs of email marketing - from building your list, to crafting effective campaigns that drive results, to analyzing the metrics. I even included 30 reusable email marketing topics specifically for beauty businesses so you never run out of ideas of what to write.

At this point you might be thinking to yourself, “Okay Lindsey, you’ve done such a wonderful job of convincing me I need to start using email marketing but I really can’t imagine adding one more thing to my plate right now.”

And if that’s the case, you’re in the same boat as many of my clients. They understand the importance of using email marketing, know it needs to be executed strategically, but instead of trying to figure it out on their own they leave it to me to handle.

My clients have seen email open rates as high as 80% and generated as much as $9,000 a month in revenue directly from email marketing campaigns.

Email marketing can only benefit your business, so I genuinely hope this inspires you to give it a shot!
